CALIFORNIA SHUTTING DOWN HAM RADIO NETWORKS DESPITE RECENT WILDFIRES, BLACKOUTS

There is a nationwide effort to Kill Ham Radio

NEWS DESK California Officials declare Ham Radio no longer a benefit; Demands Ham radio repeater infrastructure to be Removed.

California is severing ties to ham radio repeater owners throughout the state, demanding REMOVAL of Repeater sites from public property, jeopardizing the lives of millions of Californians who depend on these repeaters to operate during emergencies.

(First they cut electric, now they want to cut communications. See what’s actually going out out there?)

In a letter sent by CAL FIRE, the state claims Ham operators no longer provide a benefit to the state or public safety. They claim that “constantly changing technological advances” has made Ham radio obsolete during an emergency.

Keep in mind; this is a state that is currently shutting power down in 34 of its counties because its infrastructure cannot handle 20-30 mph winds without risking wildfire breakouts throughout the state.

  1. This is absolutely monstrous, and it appears no one is intelligent/aware enough to know what this means.
Aircrap is apparently the only outlet to pick this up.
I hope you hang in there!

  2. The article is misleading and points to flagrant misrepresentation of facts by the Media and State of CA.

Ham Radio operators and Clubs are very experienced at providing their own alternative power and Health and Welfare communication services without the need for state of California help. The FCC continues to license and support HAM radio as an alternative to commercial communications.

The issue for California was discontinued maintenance of State resources to link HAM communication through state-owned links. This was originally offered to HAM radio groups by the State of CA as a perk, but was never a requirement for Amateur communication operations.

HAM radio links and frequencies continue to exist. Popular bands and 2 Meter, 440Mhz, Packet digital, 80 Meters, 40 Meters, 20 Meters and higher frequencies on the HF band.

It appears the State found a way to save money by discontinuing the cost of maintenance for what could be termed “frivolous” HAM radio links.
